A Bed of Their Own: Helping 51 Children in Uganda

What if something as simple as a bed could make a meaningful difference in the life of a child?
At El Shaddai Children Charity Camp Ministries in Uganda, 51 children have a place where they are cared for, encouraged, and given hope for their future. But there is one basic need that remains: these children are currently sleeping on the floor. Life by Design has an opportunity to help change that.

51 Children. 18 Bunk Beds. One Opportunity to Make a Difference.

Our goal is to provide 18 triple bunk beds, enough to give all 51 children a bed of their own, while also providing additional sleeping capacity as the ministry cares for children in need. Each locally provided bunk bed costs $270.

To get this project started, Bob and Michelle Cavinder will personally provide the funds for the first bunk bed. That means we are looking for 17 additional individuals, families, churches, businesses, or organizations who would be willing to sponsor one bunk bed for $270.

More Than Just a Place to Sleep
For many of us, having a bed is something we rarely think about. We end our day, climb into bed, and get the rest we need for tomorrow. For these children, having their own bed would be something very special.
A bed provides more than a place to sleep. It can provide comfort, dignity, security, and better rest. A good night’s sleep can help children have more energy to learn, play, grow, and participate in their daily activities.

Most importantly, providing these beds is a tangible way of telling each child: You matter. You are valued. You are loved. And your future matters.
At Life by Design, we believe every person is created for more. Sometimes helping someone discover that “more” begins by meeting a very practical need right where they are.

Our hope is to fully fund all 18 bunk beds and see these children experience the excitement of climbing into a bed of their own.
